Mark Anthony Cella trout fishing freshwater lakes

Fishing has become many a man’s sport now-a-days. So, before heading to your lake ofchoice, call ahead of time to the nearest lodge or tackle shop to find out when the lake is stocked. You don’t want to drive for hours and get to a lake with no more fish.

So many fisherman now a days hit the lakes and pull out most of the fish within days of it being stocked. So if you want to camp for the weekend, and they stock the lake on Tuesday, well even the most experienced angler may find it a bit more challenging to catch his dinner.

Mark Anthony Cella fresh water fishing weather

Besides the obvious requirements of having proper fishing gear, knowing the best times of the day and weather conditions to catch trout is important. In this angler’s experience, very early morning and later in the evenings are the best times of day to catch these fish.

The cooler the better, rainy or snowy weather are the best. Try and fish during the winter and do so at 4:00 am. If it’s raining or snowing it’s by far the most exciting cause the fish are hungry, jumping and you’re trying not to freeze at the same time. Be careful of lightning showers or you’ll end up cooked fish bait yourself.

OK, so you got there the day after the lake is stalked, it’s 4:00 am, it’s raining and you’re covered, now you need the right bait and lures. Freshwater fish become accustomed to the flavors they were raised with so experimenting with bait flavors is advised, or ask another angler.

Lures however are easy. Just use a smaller one with preferably two hooks and the key is to use shiny when it’s dark and use dark when it’s bright out. In the dark they can see the glittery thing moving around the water. When it light out the shiny lure looks like sunshine. Pretty simple, yet highly effective strategies.

Why Bass Fishing Is A Sport

Long before bass fishing was made into a sport followed by thousands of people all around the world; it was an action that was required of to put food on table. That said, with thousands if not millions of viewers all across the world tune in for the various type of bass fishing competition, many are considering to pick up this as a sport and to compete at the highest level, because how difficult it is to fish?

One of the main difference between a regular sport and bass fishing sport is that you will really have no idea exactly who you are competing with. There is no standard that you need to meet except your own; as such it is safe to say that you are your own biggest enemy. Think about it, there can be a thousand fishermen in a competition, and can you really pinpoint out who is going to be your main competitor? Most likely not, as such you are essentially trying to outdo yourself on every tournament and hope that you have landed the biggest fish among others. Before you even begin formulating plans on catching these fishes, you will need to know exactly where they hang out the most in order for the highest success rate.

The most common misconception about bass fishing is that the lures we use are essentially the same, and this is exactly what separates someone from bringing home thousands of dollar from someone who just brings enough bass fishes home for the coming week’s dinner. Knowing your lures is the first step to winning those fishes over! Bass fishing is more than a worm and a hook, knowing those different lures and the attraction it brings to those fishes is all part and parcel of the game.

After your basic gear setup, you’ll need some specific set of casting skills because bass tends to lump and congregate in difficult areas such as fallen logs, cover in the water. Being able to aim and cast to a specific area is a skill easy to learn but difficult to master.

This is not only limited to those confined area, you are dead wrong to think that no skills are required when casting in open clear water. An overly large lure in the open water is only going to do one thing, which is to startle those fishes and scare them away. Slowly retrieving in a way where it lure the fishes instead of scaring them is the edge an experienced fishermen have, and this is just one more element to master in bass fishing.

Saltwater Fishing For Beginners

Fishing as an occupation varies when it comes to features in keeping with two main elements: the type of fish and the water environment properties.

Adaptation to the fishing needs becomes obvious in the diversity of gear necessary for the activity. In time fishing tackle and techniques have developed becoming specialized for one activity sector or another particularly when since the preeminence of fishing for commercial purposes. Therefore, to comply with market demands and increasing needs, saltwater fishing is widely performed on international waters as well as on internal seas.

The tackle has to match the variety of water fish species in order to be efficient. Consequently, this very specificity of saltwater fishing has brought about a diversification of fishing equipment being, gear parts, baits and lures.

In addition, water depths, variations of water temperatures, light reflection and the environment purity level influence saltwater fishing as objective external factors. Even if you have spent a lifetime fishing in fresh waters and consider that skills have been developed by now, the very first time you get to try saltwater fishing, you will definitely feel the difference and fall in love with it.

Evidently different types of saltwater fishing lures will need different kinds of fishing lines. It is consequently obvious that, not only the environment and the fauna influence the equipment, but the various parts of the equipment impact on each other and make modifications and adjustments necessary.

It doesn’t matter how you approach saltwater fishing remember that the monofilament fishing line remains your best option for just about any lure, showing both economy and rewarding casting range. The advantage of monofilament fishing line for saltwater fishing results from its versatility as it matches quite properly with all lures. Besides, it can be weighted with a number of sinkers to take the fishing line to the depths you want it to get. Low cost and ubiquity make two other main features of the mono-filament line; you can purchase it in large spools and is readily available at any fishing tackle and bait shop.

Yet there are a few drawbacks that makes the monofilament line inefficient with a few types of saltwater fishing lures. The most upsetting downside of this type of fishing line is what some fishermen would call its lack of responsiveness. Its stiffness makes it coil on the spool, therefore causing one to lose casting distance. In spite of these drawbacks, at least when you go saltwater fishing for the first time, you can try the mono filament fishing line, even if there is a wide variety of other choices you can definitely make.

The Quality Design Of The Fenwick Fly Rod

There is a saying, that quality is in the design of the Fenwick fly rod. And it is hard to find people who will argue this point with you. They have been putting out quality products since 1952 when they were founded. And there seems to be not turning back for them. They have expertise in design and technology that keeps them leading the way in fly fishing rods.

You will sometimes hear that the old traditional models were better than the newer ones. This is merely a matter of preference and taste. The new rods are just as full of the Fenwick quality as the older ones. They continue to work on the technical design and action of their rods. They put a five year limited warranty out with all their rods. These rods are tops in the performance department.

Back in the sixties, and the seventies, and even the early eighties, they made a very large amount of glass rods. There are still loads of them around today on the market. They are part of the secondary market, so many times you can get a real bargain on one. But they have never lost their durability and performance value. They always deliver you the expertise of the Fenwick brand.

Many of these older rods are catching the eyes of collectors more than catching fish. This is due to the high quality of the craftsmanship. The very first blanks were Grizzly made, featuring the old aluminum ferrules. This was when they had the O-rings. From there they were able to design some ferrules that had the tip go over top butt fiberglass. These became patented as the Feralite ferrule, and were copied by nearly all rod makers afterwards.

The next move Fenwick made was producing a rod made from E-glass. These too had the Feralite ferrules, but the rod had crisper action to it, making for more control and better feel when casting. They improved on this rod again by adding the Fenglass line. Their blanks were still being made with E-glass, and their rods still featured the Western style grips, but the manufacturing got moved to China.

The most common thing you hear about the old Fenwick fly rods that is slightly negative, is that they are a little heavier than other rods. But they still pack quality performance into their designs. In their time they were considered very lightweight, but as designers progressed in materials and technology, other rods were made that were lighter than the Fenwick models.

It was in the seventies that Fenwick made the leap from their fiberglass models to their new graphite models. The graphite was lighter, stronger, and even stiffer. This was also the birth of their infamous Lunkerstick that was the pride of bass fishermen everywhere. Fenwick was the very first to make the all graphite rods. This was done under the watchful guidance of Phil Clock.

The quality design of the Fenwick fly rod is there for all to see. They have been pioneers, and have stayed on top of the game for many years. Once they were able to produce the all graphite rods, the turned their attention to technical improvements. They continue to be a household name among fly fisherman, with innovative designs for rods used for both saltwater fishing and freshwater fishing.

I climbed out as far as I could go without falling down looking down trying to gauge just how deep this thing was! fenwick fly fishing rods She has been quoted as saying, “I hate ridiculous names. Bamboo rods are generally used for fly fishing and can be quite expensive.

Defining What Exactly Sport Angling Tackle Turns Out To Be

Upon hearing the term fishing tackle, people immediately think of the professional fishermen on television. This is not seen as commercial like those big boats that scrap the ocean floor. However, it is a name given to similar types of fishing tackle used by both professional and regular fishermen.

Most of you are familiar with hooks, sinkers, and fishing line. These are prime examples of what fishing tackle is. For those who don’t know, let me break it down further. Hooks are the sharp metal objects that are attached to the end of your fishing line. When a fish bites it, it penetrates the fish mouth so that you can reel them in. Sometimes you will use specific baits to make the hook more attractive to the fish to eat.

The fishing line is the part that connects the hook to the fishing rod. It must be important that the line is strong because fishes are heavy, and once hooked they put a lot of tension on your fishing gear.

Occasionally, you have difficulty casting out your fishing hook into the lake. In order to get some distance a fishing sinker is attached adding weight to the hook. Its other benefit is it helps light weight bait sink in the water.

Sport fishing tackle includes many other items. In fact, any of your fishing items is within the same category. If you go to a store to buy for fishing tackle you will be referred to an isle with fishing lures. These lures are a type of fish bait.

It is amazing how long humans have been fishing but only for the past 20 years it has really been a focus of many across the world. One of the biggest benefits is that you don’t have to spend a fortune to have a great fishing experience.

Even when angling accidents can happen. One of the most hated things that happens to me is ripping a hole in my vest or hip waders. To fix that, you will require a heavy duty sewing machine because it can sew the tough angling fabrics that your clothing is made from.

Making Fishing Boilies For Seriously Big Carp And Catfish!

If you are a beginner or experienced homemade bait making angler there are always new exciting things to discover to improve your results and keep ahead of the fish - and other competing baits! To make baits that work the very most consistently for big fish it takes a deep knowledge and long experience both in designing baits and in refining them to ensure they perform most consistently - and no-one knows it all! This article is about making a big fish bait - so let us look at a few background details first.

The history of the modern phenomenon of boilie making could be said to go back many hundreds of years or thousands of year because high protein baits have been used in fishing for millennia. A guy called Fred Wilton did something unusual in that he took the essential needs of carp in particular and built his boilie and paste baits on essential fish needs to maximise possibilities that fish would need to consume his baits to top up their natural foods right through the year if possible. I personally think that high nutritive baits are just one option and I combine aspects of very instantly attractive and addictive substances chosen very specifically in my homemade baits and in fact do not aim to make a complete so-called food bait with balanced amino acids etc because it is simply not that vital to do this to catch fish - even against baits made like this!

The original protein-rich high nutritional value baits were designed around caseins and caseinates but other protein sources also figured including liver, yeast, and fish materials etc. From the fifties and onwards the rise of specialist baits really has exploded but a shift occurred from the mainly milk orientated baits of the seventies and early eighties to the fish meal and bird food and other combinations and styles of baits that predominated. It was realised by those who did their research well that fish need carbohydrates in baits to fully utilise the proteins in them, and also milk proteins sky-rocketed in price over the years so other protein sources have been sourced again and again; however, caseins still figure largely in nutritional baits of most kinds today! Fish meals really became popular in the eighties and nineties like the bird foods and other forms of ingredients as homemade bait-making anglers strove to cut costs while developing highly nutritional digestible baits and it can be significantly cheaper to make your own outstandingly successful potent baits than just depend upon ready made baits - especially if you are smart in how and where you buy your protein-rich ingredients!

Although many bait companies still subsist by selling the kinds of bait recipes that were in common use even in the sixties and seventies HNV baits can be made using many ingredients that were not available then that have extremely high potency impacts on fish behaviours. Fish instinctively detect substances within their natural foods and in some baits to as much as a few parts in a billion and mechanisms within creatures tell them to feed on that substance or not dependent on factors such as essential nutritional requirements of the individual fish at that moment, bioactivity of ingredients, liquids additives etc and habit-forming effects, palatability and so on. Making unique homemade HNV baits really has proven to be a great leveller of fortunes for many anglers who fish in extremely competitive situations for big much sought-after fish and using popular ready made baits can be a disadvantage if the fish you are seeking to catch have reason to be wary of those baits perhaps due to previously being hooked on them by other anglers; with unique homemade baits this situation is impossible!

Maybe as a beginner you have heard of a few baits and ingredients but the very best point to begin your bait making designs from is the fish. Learning about fish might sound boring until you know a bit more and seriously begin to appreciate the massive power it can give you in your fishing even against better more experienced more talented anglers - for the rest of your life. Like in the old saying knowledge is power, but in this case knowledge of fish senses, internal processes and how bait substances can exploit and manipulate and boost such things like digestion and energy for instance is extremely well proven to lead to catches of very many big fish that make other anglers jealous!

Once you have made the effort to learn about your fish in deeper internal ways this effort will repay you in improved catches for life because for one thing you will not only understand how you baits work or maybe why not and also how to beat competing baits and bait applications and fish better because you can have full confidence in your baits because you understand them and your fish which puts you in an enviably powerful position in the modern competitive fishing environment! I can put this across in writing a I am in such a position after over 30 years of working on my passion and have seen the difference in both my confidence and my big fish catches when I have really concentrated on putting this knowledge into practice instead of being lazy and relied upon readymade baits that rarely have any really significant competitive edges. Homemade baits can be made today using some of the most potent additives, ingredients and liquids available ever in history; many are so potent you only need low levels for maximum effects and I know from personal experience that such potent baits can out-fish competing readymade baits for one thing because bait companies need to make a profit so do not maximise on some of the most potent substances they could you (when you can) and you can make your baits totally different in format while most readymade baits are made in standard rolling machines to form barrel or round boilies that fish find very easy to reject or avoid completely if a hook is attached!

Just a quick note about the milk protein baits from the high protein bait days; such baits were used in extreme moderation because fish could easily fill up on them too much plus their costs were very high and for other reasons - such as they mostly worked pretty instantly, but dumping many kilograms of them into swims was not really a sensible tactic with such baits in many situations! It is interesting to note that the protein-rich fish meal HNV baits and bird food baits containing much lower levels of milk proteins were successful and were used increasingly in large volumes to forms beds of baits to attract and hold fish but this baiting style was not always the way and is just one option and not a necessary one which means you do not need to make loads of homemade baits for consistent big fish success! It is very well proven that just a small handful of extremely potent homemade baits can reap the same rewards (or better) than anglers using many kilograms of readymade baits and pellets and readymade ground baits and so on and I have noticed that it is very likely some of the biggest fish in a water are extremely likely to take you new unique homemade baits sooner rather than later - catching new personal best fish on baits you designed and made for yourself has a totally unique high that must be experienced to be appreciated (and lasts longer than any other fishing high!)

The major reason why you can have absolute confidence in your own unique homemade baits and recipes is because preferably you will have studied the fish in detail in terms of the many factors that you can potentially exploit to manipulate their feeding modes, feeding habits, feeding intensity and location and so on. I spent a very long time putting this kind of information all into my ebooks to make this far quicker and easier to understand, and to put into practice in formulating your own unique baits that catch fish again and again. Now I will provide you with a simple homemade bait recipe for big fish that will kick start you on the bait-making road - or will give you something a little bit different if you already have some experience!

The bait below is not a complex one and anyone can make it - or versions of it with confidence when aiming for big carp or catfish for instance. This bait is based primarily on highly digestible fish meal and not caseins to keep costs low and there are additions in it that you may or may not utilise to boost effects and performance and make your bait especially unique. When making baits it is an art and not just science so bear in mind that levels and ingredients can be adjusted to however you like and this bait although digestible and highly nutritionally attractive is not as optimised for digestion as is possible looking at this recipe form a scientific standpoint - but your fish will not mind at all!

7 ounces of low temperature fish meal. 2 ounces of calcium caseinate. 1 ounce of 90 mesh casein. 2 ounces of CLO. 1 ounce of blood plasma. 1 ounce of hydrolysed poultry protein. 1 ounce of blue cheese powder. 1 ounce of chopped fennel seeds.

This bait can be made with betaine and liquid eggs with Minamino or other liquid foods etc such as home liquidised liver and anchovy extract for instance; and a low level of oil too is a very beneficial (such as walnut oil.) As for flavours, palatants, sweeteners or labels etc you might choose an essential oil of your choice or even natural orange extract in sunflower oil (just to be different) from the local supermarket; suppliers are many but the blood plasma plus a few of the other things mentioned are supplied by CC Moore on line. Deep Sea Diving: Knowing Your Tides

It might seem weird but a comprehensive understanding of the tides and their effect on your fishing locale can pay big dividends. In fact, it is considered a major key to successful deep sea fishing by experts. Most fishing guides and charter-boat captains know this secret. They make detailed studies of currents, tides, and how they affect fishing on their area.

However, it is sad to say, that a lot of amateur deep sea anglers give very little thought to these important details. In deed, some anglers do not pay any attention to them at all. Then they ask themselves why other fishermen catch all the fish and they do not. Nevertheless, there are those who do comprehend that tides have an effect on their fishing, but they do not know exactly how or why.

These anglers frequently waste hours trolling, casting and sinker bouncing even when the tide is not first-class. However, the deep sea angler who knows his tides can select in advanced the most favourable fishing times and concentrate his efforts on those times, which means that you can have fewer wasted days and get more fish during your deep sea fishing trips.

We do not need to probe into the science of tides here, except to point out that tides are due to the gravitational forces that are brought about by the Sun and the moon. Since the moon is nearer the Earth, it has greater influence on tides than the Sun.

When the tide is up, water moves towards the land. This is also known as a “flood tide”. When the tide drops, making its way back out, it is called an “ebb tide”. The period when it does not move either way is termed the “slack tide”. It takes a period of about six hours for it to rise, and six hours to ebb. For every 24 hours these tides occur approximately 50 minutes later than the last time.

They also vary with regard to the degree that they rise or fall. The highest tides occur when the Sn and moon are situated on the same side of the Earth in a direct line. This kind of tide is called a “Spring tide”, which occurs during new-moon and full-moon periods.

During these periods, both low and high tides are higher than their customary state. However, during the last and first quarter phases of the moon, tides do not rise or fall that much. These are called as “neap tides”.

So which of these tides are helpful and which are not? To start off with, most experts believe that moving tides or currents are usually more productive than when there are no currents or tides. Therefore, a “slack” tide will rarely produce a good catch.

You can take even more help from tides by knowing when to go. The period in which an incoming tide begins is rated one of the most productive periods for fishing, particularly if you are targeting game fish like bluefish, striped bass, channel bass, and weakfish.

During the periods of slack water, small bait fish are apt to scatter, and having a lack of strong currents to contend with, they are able to swim faster and therefore escape their predators.

However, when tides start moving, such small bait fish are at the mercy of strong rips and current. Therefore, they are easier to find and catch for stripers and other kinds of game fish. When an ebbing tide starts is another good time to fish, simply for the same logic. In general, the change of tide, whether it be low or high, is actually the best time to do your fishing.
